:History

The History Department of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz was established in 1977 including 4 faculty members, and accepted students for a bachelor's degree in history in the same year. As more faculty members joined the department in later years, the history department established a master's degree program in "Post-Islamic History of Iran" in 2002. In the following years, by attracting new faculty members with different fields of interest, more master's degree programs including "Islamic History", "Ancient History of Iran", and "Persian Gulf Studies" as well as a PhD program of "Post-Islamic History of Iran" were established. Currently, the history department carries out its educational and research activities relying on 8 faculty members (one professor, one associate professor, and three assistant professors of post-Islamic history of Iran; one associate professor of Islamic history; one professor and one assistant professor of ancient history of Iran). Among the most enterprises of the History Department is establishment of new PhD programs of "Ancient History of Iran" and "Islamic History".

:Educational focus of the department

Given that the specialties of the faculty members of this department include the history of Iran and the world, the courses offered by the faculty members of this department include a wide range of topics including ancient history of Iran, Islamic history, post-Islamic history of Iran, and the history of the Persian Gulf. The faculty members of the History Department also offer some history-related courses in other departments of the university.

In accordance with their expertise, the faculty members of the History Department have managed to publish several books and many more scientific articles on the history of ancient Iran, the Islamic History and the post-Islamic history of Iran.

It admits students in four master's programs of "Ancient History of Iran", "Islamic History", and "Post-Islamic History of Iran", "History of the Persian Gulf", as well as a PhD program of "Post-Islamic History of Iran".
